As summer holiday season is all but upon us, this is the time of year you want your skin in prime condition.

As you’re making memories that will last a lifetime and catching non-stop special moments on your camera phone, your holiday is NOT the time for problem skin.

Unfortunately, while holidays might not be the ideal time for breakouts, uneven skin tone or a blotchy complexion, it is the time where damaged skin is more likely due to prolonged exposure to harsh conditions such as sun and the elements.

Because we know how important it is for you to have skin in prime condition particularly on holiday, we’ve put together out foolproof tips for summer holiday skin that will make you feel as good as you look, and make sure you’re camera ready at all times!

Use sunscreen

There’s no excuse for you to be outside on holiday without sunscreen on your skin, and especially on your face. Don’t wait until you get to the pool to apply SPF. Apply liberally before you leave your hotel in the morning to offer maximum protection against harsh UV damage which can still occur even through the clouds.

Sun exposure can lead to dry, dehydrated cells that leave your skin lacklustre and lifeless…not the dazzling, glowing complexion you’re trying to achieve! Sunscreen also protects against sunburn which can leave your skin red and inflamed and increase your chances of skin cancer.

At risk of sounding like a popular tune from the 90’s…always wear sunscreen. The higher the factor, the better!

Drink water

As the margaritas flow by night and the drinks at the pool bar help you while away the afternoons, it can be really easy to forget about drinking enough water when you’re on holiday. Always alternate alcoholic drinks with a glass of H20 (bottled if tap water isn’t safe to drink), and don’t forget to take a refillable water bottle with you when you’re away from the hotel on day trips.

Drinking water is the best natural helping hand you can give your skin cells to keep them glowing, fresh and bright. Hydration starts from the inside out, and it’s important that regardless of your routine, you hydrate at every opportunity.

Consider going makeup free

While you might not feel confident to lose the makeup altogether, consider using lighter foundations, mineral powders or avoiding coverage altogether. Whether you’re sunbaking, skiing, or sightseeing, the heavier the make up the more chance there is of it mixing with sand, sweat and debris in the pores causing breakouts and irritation.
